The giant snake in the Borneo island

The giant snake was swimming in the Baleh river, Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia

Borneo Island is divided into two, the northern part called Serawak, Malaysia. Southern part of Borneo island called Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The giant snake was swiming in Baleh River, Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia. A photo of a black giant snake seen was swimming in a tropical river. Reportedly, the photo was taken from a helicopter, 11 February 2009.

Borneo Island does have a giant snakes. However, during this big snake that was discovered is a type of Python, which Borneo people call it the ricefields snake, length is 18 feet or 6 meters.


But these snake who seen in the photo and circulate on the Internet was estimated length 100 feet or approximately 33 meters.

This picture was taken by team members of the floods and then published by the Messenger of Sarawak, a local newspaper of Malaysia. New Straits Times in Kuala Lumpur also load the image which is then released by The Telegraph, UK.

Many peoples no trust to these picture and consider as an engineering. This is because too far distance shooting picture to snakes. True or not, the photo was already make the Sarawak public, particularly Sibu, fear. Because, this river is a major transportation public over the years.

According to legend, local people believe about the existence of an anaconda in this region who named Nabau. According to myth, Nabau is the snake with a length of 80 meters with dragon head and seven nostril. Villagers living in Borneo Baleh River believe that is the mystical creature. Moreover, people are often seen the large snakes in that region.

Until now it has not been found of the anaconda in Kalimantan, Indonesia, except in the movie Anaconda in Amerika. Rekor current of the longest snake is an anaconda (eunectes) from Amazon river. The length of an anaconda that was discovered is 50 feet.

However, scientists believe that there is a long anaconda 80 feet, even 100 feet, from snake skin findings by British scientists on an expedition in 1992. According to Mongabay environmental sites, the largest is the green anaconda (Eunectes murinus). Length is 43 meters.

Python Asia is the second longest snake. Scientists call it the Asiatic Reticulated Python (Python reticulatus). Longest python is found in Borneo area 33 feet in length, and is the longest current Python. Scientists believe that the python can reach lengths of 50 feet or about 15 meters.

The difference, Anaconda is more slender and good swimmer. While python fatter and just love to live in moist soil, not in water. Anaconda killing with constricting to their prey before swallowing, but the python uses its power to convolute their prey until the bones were destroyed or did not move again, then swallowed it all.

The scientists also found fossils of a snake as heavy as a sedan car in South America. The snake was estimated can swallowing the cow. The monster with 45 feet of lenght who named Titanoboa and very large, living with eating the crocodiles and giant turtles. It weighed 1.25 tonnes. They usually creep around the tropical forests of South America when 60 years ago.
